New Generator Ordinance in Effect

The City of Lyons has adopted a new ordinance regarding the use of generators connected to a property’s electrical system.
A permit is now required before any generator can be installed or operated when tied into your home or business electrical panel.
All permitted generators must be equipped with a double-throw switch to ensure there is a complete break before any connection is made to the City’s electrical system.
Following this ordinance is critical to protect our employees— who can be seriously injured by improperly connected generators.
Please note: Violations will not receive a warning. A $500 fine will be imposed for non-compliance.
