Mandatory Lead Pipe Survey

Have you completed the Water Service Line Materials Survey?
Over the course of the next year, the City of Lyons will be required by state law to perform a complete inventory of our water distribution system. The purpose of this inventory will be to determine the amount of lead piping and fittings throughout the entire system. Please complete the following survey at the link below, or download and print out the survey from our website and mail it back to the City offices. The City must verify the materials used in private service lines in EVERY home and business in Lyons. If you do not complete survey, the utility department will have to go door to door to complete.
Perform the magnet and scratch test. Gently scratch the surface of your service line with a coin. If the pipe is soft, easily scraped, silver, and a magnet doesn’t stick, it is most likely lead.
